Professional sailboat racer Chris Branning was recently searching Pinterest looking for a tablet solution that would allow him to more easily run the navigation software on his sailboat. After a deep search, he stumbled upon Gig Gear’s Two Hand Touch.
Typically used by AV techs and live event professionals to more easily remote mix a room with both hands available, the Two Hand Touch provided the perfect solution for Branning.
“Racing sailboats have a main computer down below which run complex navigation software, and then we use a repeater screen on deck so we can supply up-to-date information to our leadership,” Branning explained. “The repeater screen is usually an iPad but can also be a variety of other screens as well.”
Branning said the Two Hand Touch’s ability to house different tablet sizes was a key selling point for him.
“It’s handy that Gig Gear’s Two Hand Touch can accommodate so many different types of screens,” he added.
While Branning may have a unique use for the Two Hand Touch, his favorite feature is similar to most AV tech’s favorite feature — it’s ability to allow them to go hands-free.
“I like that the Two Hand Touch keeps the tablet in place and allows me to physically engage the boat once I stow the tablet in the ‘up’ position,” Branning explained. “It’s very hands-free which is critical when we have to complete boat maneuvers.”
