Throughout history music has always proven that there can be a seemingly infinite amount of ways to perform, record, play and interpret music and sounds into completely new genres, forms and styles. Sometimes even a preconceived notion about an instrument can be shattered by an artist who takes that instrument to a completely unheard of new level. One instrument that seems to fall in this category is the human voice. Even though it can be varied, it still seems pretty finite in just how it can be used within a musical context. Or so it seems...
If you've never heard of overtone singing well then prepare to be amazed right here. Your ears have most likely never heard the human voice do anything like this at all. My point is not to praise the individual here though (although it is incredibly impressive), rather to point out the amazing way in which an instrument that has "done it all" can actually do something else that can surprise you. Use that as some encouragement and motivation to go out and approach your instrument and your performances and gigs with an entirely different approach. you may just well end up coming up with your own new sound and reinventing not just your music...but yourself. Let us know of any "lightbulb" moments that you had on stage, practicing at home, or purposely experimenting to take your instrument to a new level.
And of course, it goes without saying, when gigging: use Gig Gloves! (shameless plug, I know, but this is our company site :)
